Scope

Standin’ Man is a new psychedelic-inspired rock n' roll band from England. In addition to touring, they write and produce songs that have been featured on Netflix, HBO, Jeep commercials, and RockBand. As a new band, they are requiring identity design, social media graphics, and promo material designed to reflect their musical style and to attract a fan base.

    Through font selection and stylistic touches, ensure branding evokes a sense of rock nostalgia.

    Ensure band photos and imagery maintain a focus on vintage clothing, elements, and style.

     

  • Digital-First Strategy
    Proactively post music and content online to attract an audience, instead of releasing physical material first.

Process

  • Research vintage rock logos, typography and artwork to find the right look and feel for the band.
     

  • Collaborate between photographers, the band, and band management to put collateral pieces together.
     

  • Create a visual identity that draws from vintage influences while remaining current in look and feel.

Brand Identity

The client is in search of a brand identity that captures the essence of psychedelic rock, striking a delicate balance between vintage and contemporary style. The design should revolve around "The Standing Man," a Turkish folk hero who protested the government through silent defiance, standing resolute for hours on end despite continuous intimidation from the police.

  • The sudden rise of interest in Standin' Man has resulted in rock legends The Who inviting them to open a stadium concert for them along with UB40.
     

  • Standin' Man has become a band to watch in the UK indie-rock music scene, constantly growing in popularity.
     

  • By creating a brand that taps into the nostalgic vibe of '70's rock music, the band has connected with a retro-rock revival scene that is taking place and picking up momentum.
