NOT TOO TAME

PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL

Scope

Not Too Tame is an award-winning, UK-based theatre company, specializing in immersive theatre that creates a 'great night out' performance. They have a punky approach that needs to be reflected in their visual material. I have been tasked with bringing this mindset into posters for various productions to share on social media channels and in print. In addition, various swag items are also requested to support each production.

Challenges

  • Attract Non-Theatre Goers
Their mission is to appeal to those who do not regularly attend theatre, introducing them to its magic.

  • Visually Represent Their Punky Attitude
Being a scrappy theatre company, this fire needs to be shown within their pieces.

  • Connect With The Community
As a community-driven theatre, productions are often held in local, non-conventional venues.

Solutions

  • Appeal to Pub Goers
Connect with the desire to have a fun night out, to try something new but within their comfort zone.

  • Engaging Visuals Showing Punky Flair
Use edgy and energetic visuals to distinguish their productions from
    classic theatre.

  • Welcome People In
Emphasize the cheeky and local feel of NTT to show productions are fun events full of audience participation.

Process

  • Research independent theatre and pub culture to get a feel for the target audience.

  • Collaborate between photographers and theatre management to put collateral pieces together.

  • Create visuals that are a little cheeky and eliminate any inhibitions the audience may have towards theatre.

Results

  • By creating visuals that connect with their target audience, productions regularly draw sell-out crowds.

  • Connecting with the community not only brings audiences but also attracts local talent to work on productions.

  • Through edgy visuals, the theatre has attracted audiences who traditionally would shy away from theatre.
